The University of Eastern Finland is a public multidisciplinary research university with three campuses and 14,000 students. The campuses are located in the cities of Kuopio, Joensuu and Savonlinna. Founded in January 2010 as the result of the merger of the University of Kuopio and the University of Joensuu, the university has the following faculties: the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Forestry, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies, and the Philosophical Faculty.
The Kuopio Campus is located on the shore of the scenic
Lake Kallavesi - one of the more than 180,000 lakes of Finland. The city of Kuopio
offers a great opportunity for living close to nature while providing
modern conveniences and an abundant cultural life. The safe environment
and friendly atmosphere of the city makes it easy for international students to
intergrate into the community. Kuopio is also known as a lively centre of music, dance and theatre.

KISA (Kuopio International Students’ Association)
organizes trips to Finnish Lapland, as well as to Sweden and Russia.
Exchange dates:
Autumn semester: early September to late December
Spring semester: early January to late May
Accommodation:
Furnished individual study/bedroom, with shared kitchen and bathroom.

are located within walking distance of the campus.
